The Polar Bears have no time to dwell on their 13-3 opening night loss to UC Berkeley Sept. 23. After just a few days to work out the kinks, SRJC is headed to the State of Hockey in a make or break road trip.
SRJC plays four teams in four days in its first-ever trip to Minnesota Sept. 28-Oct. 1. The team is scheduled to face the University of St. Thomas (9/28), Minnesota State University, Mankato (9/29), the University of Minnesota (9/30) and St. Cloud State University (10/1). All four teams are American Collegiate Hockey Association Division II clubs from universities that host Division I NCAA hockey teams. These schools are also members of the Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association (WCCHA), a subdivision of the ACHA that is similar to the Polar Bears’ own Pacific Collegiate Hockey Association. SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA (Sept. 26, 2017): After the late addition of a few key pieces just days before the Polar Bear’ first official game of the 2017-18 season Sept. 23, first-year head coach Nate Panek is ready to officially announce his roster for the first half of the season.
Seventeen players will suit up for SRJC— a slightly smaller roster to begin the year than what the Polar Bears are used to. But with a healthy mix of returning and new players, SRJC is pretty primed for a comeback after the less-than-stellar end to the previous season. Last year’s points leader David Lundgren highlights a healthy list of 10 forwards. This is his fourth semester with the team, and will no doubt anchor SRJC’s top lines, and quite possibly, defense as well. Lundgren is one of four returning Polar Bears who switch between both positions. His leadership, along with returning players John Zerbe and Anthony Giampaoli, is paramount to the success of first-year players Mike Anderson, Blake Coleman, Auston Ghirardelli, Steven McDowell, Bobby Rogers, Marco Schamoni and Jacob Yaden. SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA (September 14, 2017): The Sant Rosa Junior College Hockey team announced today that the organization will begin charging admission to select home games this season at Snoopy's Home Ice. All games with early start times now cost to attend, while all games with a 9:15 p.m. time remain free of charge.
SRJC kicks off the season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 vs UC Berkeley. This match-up is the first of five home games that the team will charge admission. The other games include Oct. 7 vs. Santa Clara University, Oct. 13 vs. CSU Long Beach, Nov. 11 vs. the University of Oregon and Jan. 20 vs. Cal Lutheran University. SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA (August 23, 2017): With exactly one month to go before the puck drops on the 2017-18 season, the Santa Rosa Junior College Ice Hockey team is pleased to release its official schedule for the upcoming year.
The team plays 32 games, 13 home and 19 away, over the six-month season. This is one of the heaviest schedules for the Polar Bears, with many American Collegiate Hockey Association Division II heavy hitters lined up. SRJC kicks off the season with a 7:30 p.m. game Sept. 23 against franchise rival UC Berkeley. Facing their former parent club for the seventh time in eight years, the Polar Bears have never lost an opening night game at Snoopy's Home Ice. SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA (July 25, 2017): The Santa Rosa Junior College Ice Hockey team announced today that it will hold its official tryout for the upcoming 2017-18 season at 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2017 at Snoopy's Home Ice.
The SRJC Polar Bears welcome skaters of all skill levels at this year's tryout. Potential players, both new and returning, must attend a mandatory pre-tryout meeting at 7:45 p.m. in Snoopy's Warm Puppy Cafe. Players will receive an official introduction to the organization, meet the coaching staff and front office and learn about playing requirements. The cost for the skate is $20 cash or check made payable to SRJC Hockey, and must be paid prior to taking the ice. |
