With a big weekend of hockey up ahead as the SRJC Hockey team takes on the University of Oregon Nov. 10-11, the Polar Bears are blabbing about the best kept secret at Snoopy’s Home Ice for those who want a little luxury in their viewing experience.
The Hospitality Suite at Snoopy’s Home Ice gives fans an opportunity to watch the team from a unique advantage point. For $25, fans can buy a seat in the exclusive sky box above the home goal. The $25 ticket includes admission to the game, three drink coupons for either beer or wine, and food. From an 18-2 win over San Jose State to a sweep of the Wine Country Collegiate Classic, Snoopy’s Home Ice has been the Polar Bear’s lucky charm this season. SRJC has yet to lose on its home ice and this Saturday as the team takes on its PCHA rival UC Davis for the last home game of the year, the Polar Bears expect nothing less than another spectacular victory. The team will look a little different as it takes the ice, as it does after every winter break: a few players have departed while a few have joined. Despite the roster shakeup, the Polar Bears are focused on making every minute on the ice count before they embark on their playoff journey. SRJC has faced offed against UC Davis twice this season, victoriously outscoring the team 16-10. Forwards Adam Johnson, John Keshishian and Josiah Nikkel led the offense in both games, and will most likely do the same in this last match. The three skaters are among the team’s lead scorers, and Nikkel ranks sixth in points in the ACHA’s Division III. Saturday’s game will also give the Polar Bears a good look at a refreshed UC Davis team before both clubs head into the PCHA tournament at the end of January. The reigning PCHA champions will no doubt match up against UC Davis once again in the division tournament, just like in last season’s championship game. A series win would be an excellent precursor for SRJC’s ACHA playoff run starting in mid-February. The puck is slated drop at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, and as always admission is free. The SRJC Ice Hockey club and their fans celebrated the Armed Services on Saturday night at Snoopy’s Home Ice during Military Appreciation Day. As a part of Veterans Day weekend, Military Appreciation Day is the SRJC Ice Hockey Team’s way of saying thank you to the men and women who have bravely defended, and those who continue to defend, our country. “Military Appreciation Night has become one of our signature events that the organization and our fans look forward to each year,” said Director of Public Relations Jacob Fitzpatrick. “We’ve had the privilege to meet many service members throughout the years and their commitment to our nation is extremely inspiring. An event like Saturday’s is the very least we can do to show our gratitude.” The Veterans Day ceremony started just after warm-ups with a moment of silence, when fans were asked to raise and remove their caps, in remembrance of those who served and continue to serve. The SRJC Ice Hockey team has a unique link to Armed Services, as Polar Bear Defensemen Brian Cochran is active in the Marine Corps. Cochran, a machine gunner serving with the 2nd battalion as a Lance Corporal has been serving for 2 years. The SRJC Hockey Team was honored to have David Goode of the US Army drop the ceremonial first puck of the game. David served in New Guinea and the Philippines Jungles from 1941 to 1945 as combat riflemen for the 41st infantry division. “We are proud to honor our military service men and women who keep our state and country safe,” said Fitzpatrick. “We are thrilled that David Goode could join us for this special night.” Great news!
