SRJC Ice Hockey fans are invited to skate with the Polar Bear players, and play broomball during the team’s Skate with the SRJC Hockey Team fundraiser on February 4th, 2012, at Snoopy’s Home Ice. The public skate, which includes free skate rental, will run from 8:15pm to 10:00pm and costs $20 per person, or $30 for families of 3 or more. . Broomball will begin at 10:00pm and run until 11:30pm, cost for broomball is $10. All donations are tax deductible. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the Polar Bears, play games, shoot pucks at Polar Bear goalie Jacob Fitzpatrick, and have a great time while supporting the team. This fundraiser will help the SRJC Ice Hockey Team with expenses for their trip to Nebraska for the ACHA Pacific Regional Tournament, taking place on February 17th and 18th. The SRJC Polar Bears scored double digits last Saturday night when they beat the Division III, SJSU Spartans 15 to 1 at Snoopy’s Home Ice. This win extends the Polar Bears’ current winning streak to 8 games and finishes their home record at 13 wins and 1 loss. 17 of the 21 dressed Polar Bear players had points including Alexi Kulikouskiy who scored a Hat-trick. Goaltender Jacob Fitzpatrick made a 17 save effort for the victory. This game was the final home game for many Polar Bear players. Goaltender Jacob Fitzpatrick, defenseman David Rosefield, and forward John Hutton will be moving on next season. The Polar Bears would like to thank them for their time and effort and wish them luck in the future. The Polar Bears will travel to San Jose to faceoff with San Jose State’s Division II squad on February 3rd. The Polar Bears have lost 2 games to SJSU DII earlier in the season. This game will be the Polar Bears’ final game of the season before they travel to Nebraska, February 17th and 18th, for the ACHA Pacific Regional tournament. Sam’s For Play Café, in Santa Rosa, will be hosting a fundraiser for the SRJC hockey team on Monday, January 30th. This is a great opportunity to support local college hockey while enjoying some delicious American home-style food. As a club, the SRJC Polar Bears receive no financial support from the Santa Rosa Junior College. The money raised from this fundraiser will go towards team operations and travel expenses when the Polar Bears travel to Nebraska for the ACHA Regional Tournament in mid-February. Players will be attending the event throughout the day and will be available to meet and greet fans. The event will take place all day long, from 6am to 9pm, on Monday, January 30th, at the Sam’s For play Café located at 2630 Cleveland avenue in Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa Junior College Ice Hockey Team reached the one thousand Facebook fan mark Saturday – making the SRJC Ice Hockey team only the third ACHA Ice hockey team in the pacific region to reach that level. As of Tuesday morning, the SRJC Hockey Team had 1,009 fans who had “liked” them on Facebook. The only ACHA teams with more Facebook fans in California are University of Southern California with 1,590 and San Jose State University with 1,050. For context, Fresno State University, College of the Canyons, Sacramento State, and University of California, Los Angeles all have less then 500 Facebook fans. As part of their ongoing commitment to the continued growth of ice hockey in California, the SRJC Ice Hockey Team uses social media platforms like Facebook to help spread the word of local ice hockey to the members of their community.
