The Santa Rosa Junior College Polar Bears are proud to announce that they will be joining the Pacific Collegiate Hockey Association (PCHA) for the upcoming 2012-13 season. This season the PCHA will consist of 6 northern California teams, and with all teams falling within the division 3 ranks of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). Previously, the Polar Bears were labeled as an independent team only being affiliated with the ACHA. Joining the PCHA will give the Polar Bears more exposure and competition to northern California teams as they will play each team in the conference 3 times. Teams in the PCHA this season are; Sacramento State, Fresno State, UC Davis, San Jose State DIII, and Santa Clara University. The PCHA was founded in 1972 and is one of the longest running club college hockey leagues in the United States. The PCHA holds the PCHA Playoffs at the conclusion of each regular season. The winner of the PCHA Playoffs receives the coveted Adams Cup, named after Cary Adams who founded the conference. The Polar Bears were in the PCHA from 2002 to 2006, and are excited to be a part of the league again. |
