SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA (November 8, 2017): The Santa Rosa Junior College Hockey team is proud to announce that it will host two very important charity/awareness events during its set of home games versus the University of Oregon Nov. 10-11 at Snoopy’s Home Ice. SRJC will celebrate its Cancer Awareness game Friday, followed with a Veteran’s Day dedication the next night. With the Sonoma County fires forcing cancellation of the team’s annual Cancer Awareness game last month, SRJC has rescheduled this beloved event for the first game of the home stand Nov. 10. The Polar Bears will don special purple jerseys during warm-ups prior to the game against Oregon. The jerseys were designed to represent awareness for all types of cancers. After warm-ups, the jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game in the lobby.
SRJC will dedicate the game to those who have been affected by this terrible disease. The team plans to make donations in a few honorees’ names to several different charities including the Dear Jack Foundation and the Pink Fund. Special jars will be set up in the lobby for fans to contribute to SRJC’s donation efforts. The next day, the Polar Bears will celebrate Veterans Day with their Military Appreciation night. The annual event is dedicated to honoring both current and formers members of the armed forces. A pre-game ceremony will take place with a special puck drop and a salute to all those who have fought and continue to fight for this country. SRJC will also make a donation to a local Veterans organization. Fans can donate via special jars in the lobby throughout the game. “The SRJC Hockey organization couldn’t be more excited to host these two events in conjunction with two of the biggest games it will play this season at Snoopy’s Home Ice,” said Director of Communications Keshia Knight. “Both events are ones near and dear to all our hearts, and we hope fans will help us in celebrating and donating to these special causes.” SRJC’s back-to-back home games will have two different start times: puck drop is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. Nov. 10, and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11. The second game of the weekend (Nov. 11) is one of SRJC’s pre-designated ticket games. General Admission for Nov. 11 is $7, $4 for SRJC students/faculty, $2 kids 5 and up, and free for kids 4 and under.
