The first official puck drop of the season is still months away, but preparation for SRJC’s 2014-15 campaign is already underway. After an encouraging recruiting skate in early July, the Polar Bears are excited to announce they will hold the team’s official tryout skate Aug. 15-16 at Snoopy’s Home Ice. Intended for serious players, the skate will put participants through a rigorous two-day audition to determine SRJC’s official roster for the new season. The first day of the tryout will take place at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, August 15, with a mandatory pre-skate meeting inside the Warm Puppy Café at Snoopy’s Home Ice at 9 p.m. This will allow time for an official introduction to the organization and answer questions for both new and returning players. The second day of the tryout will begin the next day at 4:45 p.m..
SRJC hopes all interested players will come to the tryout as it looks to stack its roster once again this season. “The team hopes to see new players at the tryouts, both locally grown players and new student athletes from out of the area. A majority of last season's team will be returning, and together with new players, should provide for a very deep roster for the 2014-15 campaign. The coaching and management staff has a national tournament invitation as this year's target,” said General Manager Tom Billeter. |
