ACHA hockey for the SRJC is gearing up for another competitive season.  Unfortunately, the 2020-2021 season is on hold for the fall.  Head Coach Jackson Waldron and Team President Angus Brodeur have decided to reschedule games beginning in January, however this is also subject to change as the pandemic crisis fluctuates.
COVID-19 has limited the fall season for most, if not all, of the west coast teams.  Safety is the main concern for players, coaches, staff, and fans.  The Polar Bears will continue to monitor conditions until there is a general consensus that it is safe for teams to return to the ice. 
"It's disappointing that we can't get together on the ice," says Brodeur. "We have a great group of players ready to go.  We are hopeful we can play in January, but for right now, it's the right thing to do." 
As information becomes available, the team will update the fans as to when play will resume.  Hopefully, this will include games in front of the fans, as that is the best part of the season!

The SRJC Polar Bears took on Stanford at the SAP center following the San Jose Sharks win against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday February 27th.  The Polar Bears quickly pulled ahead of Stanford winning the game 6-3.  The boys enjoyed sitting on the Sharks bench and playing on the NHL ice with Zweber, Brodeur, and Harrison chilling out in the home team penalty box.  It was a fun ending to a successful winning season!

On Saturday, February 15th, the SRJC Polar Bears clinched the PCHA conference championship in Oakland against Santa Clara University.  This is the first win of the Adams Cup since 2016 for the Polar Bears. Santa Clara scored first 2 1/2 minutes in to the game. SRJC's captain, Bobby Rogers answered back with a goal a minute later, quickly followed by a goal from his linemate Auston Ghirardelli.  This duo was the undoing of Santa Clara.  Ghirardelli had a hand in all 8 Polar Bear goals. Congratulations SRJC!

Sadly, each season, the Polar Bears must say good-bye to some of their own.  We wish the very best for; goalie Tait Carlson, Captain Bobby Rogers, Forward Auston Ghirardelli, forward Steven McDowell, and our Team President, defenseman Anthony Giampaoli.  Thank you for bringing your skills and experience to the Polar Bears, and you will always be connected as a member of an exclusive club and valuable teammate to the SRJC Ice Hockey Team and the sport we all love.
